Are you like me...?
- I hate to miss out on a good deal, BUT...
- I don’t have the time to scout around every shop for every deal, AND...
- I have a sneaking suspicion that when I do see a REALLY good deal...it is because the wine is crap?
Yes? And have these ever happened to you..?
- You bought a case of Tesco’s half price Chablis, only to discover that it was disgusting. And tasted nothing like Chablis
- You bought some wine in Threshers 3 for 2 offer....only to discover that you could have got it cheaper in Majestic!
- You found a good deal on a wine you love...decided to shop around...and when you came back to the first place, it had all gone?
If so, WineScout is the place for you!
We scout every
wine deal, every week, in 100’s of retailers, from the biggest to the weeniest, to find the best. We ruthlessly weed out the deals that are too good to be true (i.e. awful wine) and will always flag up the wines that are great value, whatever their price.
I try to cover them all, but if you see a good deal that I have missed, please email me at
scout@winescout.com and get yourself mentioned on the website.
Who am I and why did I set WineScout up?
I set WineScout up, because I realised I knew something that most people don’t. I realised that I knew the difference between a good deal and a marketing con-trick.
Why?
After 10 years of marriage to a man in the wine trade, I have tasted literally 000’s of wines a year, I am a housewife, buying my wines like everyone else.
What amazed me was watching people in supermarkets, filling their baskets with a wine advertised “Half price..Was £7.99 now only £3.99”. The amazing thing, was knowing that that wine was a £3.99 wine, and had only been increased to £7.99 to allow the supermarket to claim their discount.
So I decided to do something about it. I decided to tell people which of the deals are genuinely good deals, and which ones should be avoided at all costs.
The good news
There ARE loads of good deals, if you know where to look. Not all of the
big discounts are con-tricks. There are good reasons why retailers have to discount good quality wines. Sometimes they just get it wrong and have too much stock. Sometimes they just forget to put up the prices when everyone else does. And sometimes they use wine as bait to get you to buy other products where they do make their money.
Can you trust me?
I don’t accept advertising, and I don’t accept commission from retailers.
I make my money by charging retailers for clicks. So the only way for me to build a business is to look after you, my customers. If you keep finding good deals through me, you will keep coming back, and I make money.
If I find a deal that is really good, and the retailer won’t link to me, then I will still list it.
